It was with eloquence, grace and nerves of steel that she made her way to him. Corissa had been preparing for this moment for months now: for those seconds when Taylor would see her for the first time in the gown she would become his wife in. My colleagues and I looked on with bated breath under the sunny, midday sky as she slowly took each step towards the man that she would call hers forever. It was in those moments that time stood still. That all the noise disappeared. And it was just her and him. The only thing either of them could do was smile, and then, she touched his shoulder.
It was a little over a year ago when I first met Taylor and Corissa. I always like to meet with my brides and grooms when booking to chat with them a bit. It's fun for me to learn their story and to hear all about the engagement and upcoming wedding! I knew immediately that they were each other's perfect match. They compliment each other so well in every way, and are truly one another's best friend!
They are definitely a special couple, and it has been an absolute joy to be a part of their journey to becoming man and wife. Their wedding day was filled with love, joy, and sheer happiness! Corissa got ready at one of the bridal houses provided by the wedding venue, The Barn At Bridlewood. This property is to die for! The acreage alone is breathtaking but then you see the horses roaming the land, and you're immediately drawn into the beauty of the place. I had a blast working with Corissa, her mother, and her dearest gal pals while they prepared for the day. There wasn't a moment that went by that they didn't laugh and joke around. You could tell immediately how much everyone adores Corissa and they all wanted to do whatever they could to make her day the absolute best it could be!
It wasn't long after everyone was dressed, that it was time for Corissa to do her first look with Taylor! What a treat this was for me! Talk about sweet, you guys!! There were definitely tears in this girls eyes! As I looked around at the faces of the videographers, my assistant, and the wedding planner, I saw that we all wore the same cheerful expressions. You can't help but smile while the bride and groom are doing their first look. It sort of takes you back to your own moments as a bride or groom. At least it does for me. Visions of Corey's eyes filled with tears come to my mind first. Then I see him putting my ring on the wrong hand and I smile even bigger. You just get a little lost with them in those moments. There's no way to adequately describe the look Taylor had when seeing Corissa for the first time. The closest I can come is to say that it was as if he was seeing the world in color for the very first time.
The ceremony was every bit as perfect as it could be! Corissa walked down the aisle with her mother and father and both sets of parents looked on adoringly as their children said their vows to God. The couple and their parents lit a unity candle to symbolize the joining of their families and their love for the bride and groom. Everyone erupted into cheers as the couple shared their first kiss as Mr. and Mrs. Harvey!!
As the day drew to an end, the happy couple laughed with their family and friends and had nothing but eyes for each other. I was able to steal them away for a brief time to feed the horses as requested by the bride and capture them in that perfect golden hour light. Absolutely nothing could take away the joy these two radiated as they danced the night away under the stars surrounded by their loved ones. Even when the venue lost power, the happy couple smiled and continued to have a blast!
Corissa and Taylor, yours was a day that I won't soon forget! I feel so incredibly blessed to know you both, and am just so honored that you chose me to capture this special time in your lives. I can't thank you enough for taking me along on this journey. I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from your perfect wedding day! Welcome home, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey! Big hugs, Shea
